Miss Theodora (Dora) Papadopoulou, MD, BSc (Sport Science), PGDip (SEM), MSc (Sport. Injuries), PhD (Sport Med Research), FEBSM is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Certified Sports Scientist. She is the Head Consultant of the Hip and Groin section, and for the Military Hip Rehabilitation Outcome Study (MILO) at the UK Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre, Stanford Hall, Loughborough, UK.
She specialises in hip and groin pain in Athletes, and she is participating in several hip and groin research projects internationally, however her PhD major research, was dedicated to the ultrastructure and the morphology of the articular cartilage of the knee joint.
Since 1998, she has been a Visiting Lecturer for a range of universities, lecturing students in Sport and Exercise Medicine and Sport Orthopaedics.
Dora has served as the Secretary General of the European Federation of Sports Medicine Associations (EFSMA), the Secretary of the Development Commission of the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) an Executive Board Member and chair of the scientific committee of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine (BASEM). She is an ESSKA – EHPA member and co-author at the recent ESSKA consensus on hip and groin pain in active adults.
Dora has also worked for various sports events, including Olympics, Paralympics, and Special Olympics in various roles. She is working in several scientific sports medicine projects and topics, and she is promoting exercise as a preventative intervention and treatment for chronic diseases. She is extremely zealous about the development of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
She has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, and she is frequent presenter internationally on Sport and Exercise Medicine topics. She has been Chair and Director in numerous Sports and Exercise Medicine conferences and member of various scientific committees.
Dora is fervent volunteer, passionate about integrity and sport ethos. Olympism is one of the cornerstones of her philosophy of life.
