Dr. Lazaros Poultsides is an Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon and of Chief of Hip Preservation Surgery at Papageorgiou General Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece. He is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Chair of Education in Orthopaedic Surgery, School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He obtained his Medical Diploma degree at University of Athens Medical School, Greece, his Master of Science in Health Care Administration at University of Athens, Greece, his PhD in Orthopaedics and specialty in Orthopaedics at the University Hospital of Larissa, University of Thessalia, Greece. He completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Infections and Orthopaedic Trauma at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Poultsides was fellowship trained in Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement, Sports Hip injuries, and Hip Preservation Surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, NY. Dr. Poultsides worked as an Assistant Scientist at the Hospital for Special Surgery-Weill Cornell Medicine. He was appointed faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Division of Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at New York University Langone Orthopedic Hospital. He was an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York University School of Medicine, Chief of Adult Reconstruction Surgery at Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan, NY, and member of the Hip Preservation Service at New York University Langone Orthopedic Hospital. He has published more than 160 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters (>6200 citations, h-index 45) and presented more than 380 papers in national and international meetings. He has been the recipient of multiple national and international awards and grants. Dr Poultsides has been nominated Representative of the Hellenic Society of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology to the EFORT Education Committee, and National Representative to the European Hip Society. He is founding member of the new ESSKA section –European Hip Preservation Associates. His main areas of clinical expertise and research are joint preservation, replacement and revision, sports hip and knee injuries, and minimally invasive and robotic hip and knee surgery.
